AI phone ordering for a restaurant in Québec: 2026 guide
An AI voice agent can answer your restaurant’s phone during the rush: it takes the order from your menu, reads it back, gives the pickup time, texts the menu or a payment link and takes reservations. Depending on the vendor, it can answer several calls at once. Before choosing, check where the order lands (POS, email, text, tablet), how it handles changes and allergies — it must never guarantee that a dish is allergen-free — and call a demo to hear it take an order.
Published by Zen Solutions (Laval), which sells one of these services. We rank nobody here: prices come from the vendors’ own pages, rules from the text of the law, with the links. Spotted an error? Write to info@zen-solutions.net.
What it does
- Take a pickup order (or delivery, if you offer it) from your menu, with options and changes.
- Read back the order and the total, and give the time it will be ready.
- Text the menu, the confirmation or a payment link.
- Take a reservation: party size, date, time, name, number.
- Answer common questions: hours, address, parking, vegetarian options.
What to check
- An up-to-date menu: prices, sold-out dishes, daily specials. Who updates it, and how fast?
- Allergies: the agent notes the question and passes it to your team; it never guarantees that a dish is allergen-free.
- Where the order lands: in your POS, by email, by text, on a tablet? Someone has to see it right away.
- Payment: a secure payment link sent by text, rather than a card number read out over the phone.
- Rush hours: what happens when three people call at once?
- French and English, and your dishes’ names pronounced correctly.
Questions to ask
- How does the agent get my menu, and how do I change it?
- Where and how do I receive each order?
- Can customers pay in advance, and how?
- How many calls can the agent take at the same time?
- What does the agent do with an allergy question?
- What does a busy month cost, with my real volumes?

Frequently asked questions
- Can an AI agent take a full order over the phone?
- Yes: it takes the order from your menu, with options and changes, reads it back with the total, gives the pickup time and can text the confirmation.
- What does the agent do with an allergy question?
- It notes the question and passes it to your team, or transfers the call. It must never guarantee that a dish is allergen-free.
- Can the customer pay in advance?
- Some agents text a secure payment link. That is better than a card number read out over the phone.
- Does the agent take reservations too?
- Yes: party size, date, time, name and number, with a text confirmation if you want one.
